Southwest Bank’s new urban building on 7th is making steady progress as well. The building will be a bank branch and will also have some leasable retail space besides the bank I believe. It was designed by local architect Robert W. Kelly.

SoSeven’s Shops & Lofts are making steady progress - one of the new buildings already has two levels of condos atop its ground-level retail space, and framing for the third should be rising shortly.

In the back of the property, they’re continuing with the construction of more blocks of townhomes.

No, it’s still not open, but they are really doing a big makeover to the little box at 7th & Carroll - and you have to love the ever-changing messages on their sign.

Developer Eddie Vanston is moving right along with his restoration and redevelopment of the former Sawyer Grocery Store buildings on South Main into ground-floor retail with apartments on the second floor. As seen above, the older building on the corner is nearing completion.

A note related to Museum Place - J & J’s Hideaway, the long-running bar between 7th & Darcy in the Cultural District, has closed. The Hideaway’s last night was last night - I was doing some photography around the Kimbell and could hear the celebration from the courtyard.

Museum Place in the Cultural District is really making significant strides in construction these days. The area around the development is a world of torn-up pavement, orange cones, fences, and cranes as work steadily moves from the big 7th/University/Camp Bowie/Bailey intersection back into the neighborhood.
