The rumors were true - the Albertsons at TCU will be coming down to make way for a mixed-use development featuring the first urban-styled grocery store in Fort Worth. Better Renderings Of Texas & Pacific Warehouse Redevelopment

I’ve now got some much better renderings of the in-planning Texas & Pacific Warehouse redevelopment project, and I know you would all love to see them. :) These are much better than the renderings I’ve shown before. The renderings depict the Texas & Pacific Warehouse converted into loft apartments with ground-floor retail, [...]

UPDATED: Building At 8th & Magnolia To Come Down

You may remember this small building at 8th Avenue & Magnolia from my recent post about endangered historic buildings. I’m now receiving word that this building may be more endangered than I thought. The word I’ve heard is that the building is to be demolished and replaced with a Comerica Bank [...]

Love Shack Headed To SoSeven?

Fort Worthology reader Mark R. sent me this tip: Mark says he ran into none other than chef Tim Love at the Dorsey Gang 5000 Show Celebration at Billy Bob’s, and Chef Love revealed that he will be opening a Love Shack in the SoSeven development on West 7th Street in the Cultural District, [...]

The Carnegie Progress

Construction on The Carnegie, the new 16-story Class A office tower in Sundance Square, is just about complete. I saw a tenant moving in recently, most likely EOG Resources. The building’s traditional design is turning out very well indeed, in my opinion. Now, some detail shots.

I love the building’s detailing on the [...]

Omni Hotel Progress

As can be seen at the top of the building in the photo above, the steel framing of the crown on the Omni Hotel & Condos is now being assembled. The framing will be covered with glass like that used on the condo tower portion of the building below it, giving an angled “swoop” [...]

TCU Albertsons To Be Urbanized?

I’m hearing rumors that the Albertsons by TCU will be getting a heavy makeover, possibly a rebuild, that will feature underground parking, space for additional retail tenants, and 3-4 floors of office space on top.
Just a little rumor for you. Thanks to reader Jeff for forwarding me the tidbit!

The TownSite Co. acquired this building not long ago when it bought what is usually known as the former Motheral Printing site in the Near Southside. TownSite is making plans at the 11-acre assemblage of buildings and vacant lots centered around the intersection of South Main & Pennsylvania for a mixed-use development on the [...]

SoSeven Construction Update

Phase one of SoSeven’s Shops & Lofts is progressing steadily. With construction having neared completion on the first two buildings, which will be office space over retail, most work is concentrated on the third and fourth buildings, which will be condos over retail. Here, the condo/retail building fronting 7th rises alongside the first [...]

West 7th Construction Update

We took a look at Museum Place yesterday, and now it’s time for the West 7th development by Cypress Equities down the street. Framing should be getting underway shortly for the apartments above the retail here in these two buildings on either side of Crockett Street. The buildings should top out at 5 [...]

Museum Place Construction Update

Finally took the time away from remodeling to get some construction photos. Here’s an update on the progress at Museum Place in the Cultural District. One Museum Place, the big retail/office/condo building, is very nearly complete, as seen in the photo above. The last bits of glass and such are going up [...]

Notes From Tom Struhs Presentation On Trinity Bluff - Bass Family Planning Grocery Market

I was unable to attend the presentation developer Tom Struhs gave on the Trinity Bluff project at the TRV offices last night, but I’ve pieced together some notes from the presentation from various sources. Here’s some of the interesting stuff Mr. Struhs revealed:

The Bass family is in some sort of planning stages for a [...]

Delaney’s Irish Pub Announced For West 7th

While I’m deep in House Remodelingland and thus a bit disconnected from events and goings-on, I have noticed another article in the Business Press revealing that the West 7th development has announced another tenant: Delaney’s Irish Pub.
Developers of Fort Worth’s West 7th project have inked a deal with Delaney’s Irish Pub for 5,000 square [...]

The Fort Worth Business Press reports that the West 7th development is continuing to add tenants to its roster, and that Cypress has switched from Starwood to another hotel operator. The new hotel will be announced by the end of the month.
The ground floor of the hotel building will feature retail with an elevator [...]

Polytechnic Heights Downtown Restorations

As noted yesterday, over around Texas Wesleyan the TownSite Company has acquired most of downtown Polytechnic Heights and is in the process of restoring the buildings there. Here are some photos I took of the restoration progress over the weekend. Looks to be a cool project.

Carnegie Nears Completion, Picking Up Tenants

The Carnegie, the new Sundance Square office building designed by David M. Schwarz, is nearing completion and tenant announcements are starting to be made. The Fort Worth Business Press reports that Comerica will join EOG Resources as a tenant:
As construction wraps up at The Carnegie building in downtown Fort Worth, Dallas-based Comerica Bank has [...]

Urban Grocery Stores Coming Back

As people return to urban areas, grocery stores are starting to come back to the central city in urban forms - just not in Fort Worth, thus far. In Minneapolis, Lund’s has announced plans for a 30,000 square foot store in the ground level of a new mixed-use development in downtown:
Lund Food Holdings Inc. [...]

Caceria Building & 500 Commerce

Wagner Oil’s new Caceria Building is really looking like a gem. They’ve clearly spent a lot of time and money on the building’s beautiful detail work. The Caceria Building is a new mixed-use retail/office building.

Next door at 500 Commerce (also owned by Wagner Oil), the building’s ground floor renovations are nearly complete - [...]

Omni Hotel & Condos

My friend John Roberts, architect and creator of the great Architecture in Fort Worth web site, says the Omni’s got two more occupied floors and four mechanical floors left to go before it tops out. It is certainly starting to have a dramatic presence. Not much more to report, really, so just enjoy [...]

The Carnegie

A lot of the work underway on the Carnegie now is the installation of the building’s ornate stone detailing at the top and ground-level. I really love the way the building’s turning out. Details:

There’s a pretty clear view of the stonework going in at the building’s upper levels. I like the design [...]

Southwest Bank

Southwest Bank’s new urban building on 7th is making steady progress as well. The building will be a bank branch and will also have some leasable retail space besides the bank I believe. It was designed by local architect Robert W. Kelly.

SoSeven

SoSeven’s Shops & Lofts are making steady progress - one of the new buildings already has two levels of condos atop its ground-level retail space, and framing for the third should be rising shortly.

In the back of the property, they’re continuing with the construction of more blocks of townhomes.

When completed, they’ll look like these.

The Art [...]

7th Haven

No, it’s still not open, but they are really doing a big makeover to the little box at 7th & Carroll - and you have to love the ever-changing messages on their sign.
