Opening Night for the Scat Jazz Lounge

So, the West and Clear team (yours truly included) settled into our booth in the Scat Jazz Lounge for opening night last night. You might be wondering - how was it?
Short answer: Outstanding. Best thing to happen to downtown Fort Worth in years.
For the long answer, head over to West and Clear [...]

Phase 1 of new Urban Eats guide coming soon

At long last, I’m getting ready to roll out the radically redesigned Urban Eats guide. The new system is Google Maps powered, and shall be launched in phases. The first will likely either be downtown or Fort Worth South, with more neighborhoods & districts coming online afterwards. It’s really nifty - the [...]

Another great night at Lili’s

I think this is turning out to be one of the best places in Fort Worth, period. We returned last night and tried a couple of different things. I had the Grilled Halloumi, a cheese from Cyprus lightly grilled and served with focaccia and raspberry sauce. It was quite unlike any cheese [...]

Lili’s - a quickie review

Well, Lili’s Bistro was absolutely fantastic. Steph had the gorgonzola waffle fries, and I had the potato cakes with crumbled feta cheese. The potato cakes were outstanding, soft and delicious with an undercurrent of onion. The gorgonzola waffle fries were wonderfully flavorful and prepared just right. Our peach & mango tea [...]

Must…visit…Lili’s…

Fort Worthology has to admit all the buzz about Lili’s bistro on Magnolia in Fort Worth South has finally made it give in to curiousity. We’re thinking we’ll be visiting Lili’s around 7:30 or so (maybe a bit before) tonight. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and say hi!

Fort Worth blog watch

Noticed via my incoming links list that there’s a new Fort Worth blog around, Fort Worth Hole in the Wall. I’ll let it speak for itself:
The purpose is to create a discussion of restaurants considered to be “hole in the walls” in Fort Worth, Texas. Many people love the idea of having a little [...]

Scat Jazz Lounge to open in Woolworth Building

The Scat Jazz Lounge, which was originally supposed to open in the basement of the Burk Burnett Building, will now be opening in the basement of the Woolworth Building next door. This will put the jazz lounge under the Joseph A. Bank store and the Milan Gallery. Lounge singer Ricki Derek has said [...]

Nobody Doesn’t Like Spiral Diner Pancakes

So, I can’t help but notice that Fort Worthology’s friend Steve-O has finally visited the fine folks at Spiral Diner. Steve, what took ya so long? Folks, listen to your old pal Kevin here when he says that if you’re not eating at Spiral Diner, you should be. I don’t care if [...]

Fort Worthology Five-Star Favorite

Fort Worth’s urban neighborhoods have been blessed with many fine quality eateries, both of the local and chain variety. Whether downtown, Fort Worth South, the Cultural District, or several of our other blossoming urban villages, you’re never far from something tasty. Take Italian food, for [...]

Fire at Fred’s. Again.

One of Fort Worthology’s favorite eateries is Fred’s, a Cultural District institution. Fred’s just re-opened not long ago after a major fire.
Well, it seems they’ve had another fire. Fort Worthology received this from Jennifer Chandler at Fred’s:
There was another fire. However, this one was a very small fire and the re-construction should [...]

Updates on Tower retail

Progress on filling out the ground-level space in The Tower, the condo tower made from the tornado-ravaged hulk of the old Bank One Tower, is moving right along. At a recent resident’s meeting, it was revealed that almost all the ground-level space has been leased. Qdoba is (at last) making progress on their [...]

See, it’s not just me!

Fort Worth Weekly, the quirky local indie paper who has been kind enough to feature my writings on occasion, has put out their latest “Best Of” issue. I’m pleased, but not surprised, to see their pick for Best Coffee Shop for 2006:
Staff choice: Four Star Coffee Bar, 3324 W Seventh St, FW
Now that the [...]

Best Darn Coffee Shop in the West - Now in Downtown!

For anybody living in or passing through Fort Worth: what I consider the Best Darn Coffee Shop in the West, the Four Star Coffee Bar, has opened a new second location here in downtown, in the first floor of the old Reynolds Building on Houston Street across from the W. T. Waggoner Building. [...]
