West 7th Spring Bash – Thursday, March 4

Cypress Equities has passed along an invite for Fort Worthology readers to attend the upcoming “West 7th Spring Bash,” celebrating the official opening of their West 7th development in the Cultural District.  The West 7th Spring Bash benefits Cook Children’s by donating a percentage of sales from concessions and participating retailers and restaurants.

The West 7th Spring Bash will be Thursday, March 4, from 6 pm to 8 pm. There’ll be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the development, a live performance with the band Reckless Kelly, beer garden concessions, and more.  It’ll be held on Crockett between Norwood & Currie – in between the two loft/retail buildings.  There’s bike parking in the Movie Tavern garage ground floor, The T’s #2, #7, #10, and #57 buses will take you by West 7th, and free parking is available in all three garages (located next to Movie Tavern and each of the two loft buildings).

Responsible and thoughtful comments are welcome. Be aware, though, that this site exists in part as an advocacy site for New Urbanism and its potential to remake Fort Worth into an even more livable city than it is today. Thoughtful dissent is generally welcome insofar as it fosters thoughtful replies. Inflammatory dissent, whether intentional or not, will be deleted. Commenters whose comments we routinely delete will be banned. Nothing personal, but this is a privately owned and operated web site, and we are aiming for a specific tone and audience. Work within those guidelines and all will be well.

“The T’s #2, #7, #10, and #57 buses will take you by West 7th,” Key word – “by”. As I posted before in a different discussion, the T does not seem to have any stops located along the entire length of the W7 development. You can get off the bus up near University or down past Backwoods, but unless they’ve added a stop in the last 2 months, there ain’t no stopping there. On the other side of the street, however, there are T stops (by the mexican artsy shop), so if you’re riding from downtown, all you have to do is “frogger” it across W 7th St.

  2. That’s a great point, Doug. The T is still stuck in the old 7th frame, when there was almost nothing on 7th between Downtown and the museums. I haven’t heard any sort of plans to add stops to take account of all the new development.

Considering that I’ve heard people from the T refer to the existing system as already being “first class,” I don’t know if it’s even being talked about.

I just emailed the T. Hope to see a bus stop somewhere along W7 soon.
