The Usual, the sleek new bar on Magnolia Avenue in the Near Southside, has now gotten rid of the long-running vinyl banner and installed their new signage. Large chrome letters projected out from the brick wall of the building, which will presumably soon be lit at night. We think it looks great, and it’s a wonderful match for the Usual’s striking modern interior.
While we’re on the subject of the Usual, Brad tells us the place’s operating hours are 3:00 PM to 2:00 AM.
Responsible and thoughtful comments are welcome. Be aware, though, that this site exists in part as an advocacy site for New Urbanism and its potential to remake Fort Worth into an even more livable city than it is today. Thoughtful dissent is generally welcome insofar as it fosters thoughtful replies. Inflammatory dissent, whether intentional or not, will be deleted. Commenters whose comments we routinely delete will be banned. Nothing personal, but this is a privately owned and operated web site, and we are aiming for a specific tone and audience. Work within those guidelines and all will be well.
Love that sign! It totally fits the place!
My girlfriend and I had the chance of stopping by The Usual for one of there many drinks, and I must say it is a great place, especially being so close to the Spiral Dinner.
Cool place for sure, spent a lot of time there last night at the neighborhood party. I’ll definitely be back for more good times and beverages. I am curious about the jukebox, a very odd (madonna, nickleback) selection of music for such a cool bar…and heaters on the patio would be cool…but now I’m just being greedy. Great job to everyone involved in the project!
Jeremy,
I’ve been told that the jukebox is only temporary while they wait on a flat-screen Internet jukebox.
Yes, the jukebox was pretty weird. It was 80s night when I was there apparently. Good to hear it is temporary. Hope they find some subtle artwork for the walls too- it’s pretty stark in there!
