New Coffee Shop Headed For Downtown

In the shadow of Burnett Plaza, in a small building a block east of Henderson, a new coffee shop is getting ready to open. Above, you can see the current state of The House coffee bar, situated near the Firestone and AMLI Upper West Side apartments and the Westview condos. We’ve not heard a lot of details about this place, and there aren’t any hours posted yet, so we’ll keep an eye out for more information. It’s always good to get some more options in Downtown for coffee shops.

Responsible and thoughtful comments are welcome. Be aware, though, that this site exists in part as an advocacy site for New Urbanism and its potential to remake Fort Worth into an even more livable city than it is today. Thoughtful dissent is generally welcome insofar as it fosters thoughtful replies. Inflammatory dissent, whether intentional or not, will be deleted. Commenters whose comments we routinely delete will be banned. Nothing personal, but this is a privately owned and operated web site, and we are aiming for a specific tone and audience. Work within those guidelines and all will be well.

Looks like this one is affiliated with the City Life Center Church:

It looks like there’s some more info on this place here: http://www.mycitylifecenter.com/news.php

I don’t see any information about the planned hours on that website, nor an expected opening date, but there is a proposed floorplan and further information about the venue.

From the same site cited by Frye:

    The House Coffee Bar

A big part of who we are at city life center will be focused on ‘The House’. The idea of a coffee bar is simple, people drink coffee, we should make some! What’s with the name? we call it ‘The House’ because we want it to be just that, your house! we want you to feel at home, welcomed and relaxed as you enjoy great music and great coffee.

Our goal is to attract the local individuals be it, singles, young families, married couples, older couples, business men & women, moms etc. to stop by our coffee bar and experience real people, and real conversations, Unconditional Love and an open ear and hand. Our plan is to have a state of the art music venue were we will meet as a community of faith every Saturday night, but will also dual as a venue for local artist.

We want to provide a place were local artist can come and perform their music, show of their art, etc in a place were they feel safe, encouraged, appreciated and valued. We have purchased our building at 915 Florence St. and hope to open the doors by mid june 2009.

Check back often for updates or sign up as a part of our community for updates right into your mailbox.

I read through their website. It sounds like it will be a Church that will sell coffee.

Hey thought I would take a second and give some info.

Yes City Life Center is a Church and will be meeting in the adjacent auditorium on saturday nights, check us out http://www.mycitylifecenter.com

The House Coffee Bar will be a place of business. We are not just a church selling coffee!

THe House will be a place where thursday and friday nights offer live local musicians performing and entertaining each and every week.

The house will be open for Live Music on The 10th and 11th of December for its official open doors to the public.

we are hoping to be open everyday of the week starting in Feb or March of 1010.

look for more information at http://www.thehousecoffeebar.com in the near future. and if you are or know of any local musicians or bands or artist that want to perform or display their work at our venue contact me Chris King at chris@mycitylifecenter.com

    Cheers

I am a huge fan of good, local coffee bars/cafes but the religious element makes me nervous. I will, however, withhold judgment until I visit. The great thing about coffee bars/cafes is that they are important “third places” for *all* members of the community to meet and hang out. If this is just a veiled form of evangelism, I will be sorely disappointed.

  10. Chris says:

urbndwlr – if this becomes a veiled form of evangelism I will be sorely disappointed as well, and I am the brains behind The House Coffee Bar!

Although I am a follower of Christ, I also love people, real conversation and coffee.

if it ever becomes something that is not comfortable, accepting, warm, creative, embracing the arts and a local favorite, please kick my behind :)

I am so glad to have a coffee place that is not a Starbucks. Thank you City Life Center!!

  12. urbndwlr says:

    Annie – totally agree!
Chris – I appreciate your response and attitude. I also have to commend you for good building signage so far. I look forward to trying it out.

  13. Chris says:

urbndwlr-thanks, I was a bit worried about that one:)

we should be open for live music the weekend of Dec 10-12th

Coffee Bar itself should be open daily to the public hopefully by Feb or March of 2010! it will be open Thurs, Fri and sat nights as long as there is local talent that wants to perform!

    come say hi
