National Night Out – Tonight
Hey, did you know it’s National Night Out for Texans? We hold National Night Out on a different night than the rest of the country, so tonight, there’ll be people taking to the streets in concert with their local police departments to celebrate community spirit and promote safer neighborhoods.
Check with your neighborhood association for details on your own National Night Out event. Here’s a couple of examples:
In Fairmount (in the Near Southside), National Night Out takes the form of a big neighborhood party at College Avenue Baptist Church. Billed as the biggest block party in Fort Worth, Fairmount’s National Night Out event takes place from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Organizers have taken care of the chicken and flour tortillas for fajitas, iced tea, water, and tortilla chips, but need all the sides. Please plan to bring either veggies, fruit, desserts, cookies, salad, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, hot sauce, cooked peppers & onions, or anything else you can think of to go with fajitas, along with a serving piece. Sponsored by the Fairmount Citizens Patrol, Fairmount Neighborhood Association, Old Neighborhood Grill, and the Fort Worth Police Department.
Meanwhile, on the west side, Arlington Heights will be having a get-together at Thomas Place Community Center from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Additionally, in celebration of AHNA’s 10 year anniversary, they’re inviting you to come share a piece of cake with them and renew or join the association for just $10.

Awww, that sounds like a lot of fun! Is there such a thing as a neighborhood association for people living downtown? I would like to get in on that action!
Fajitas, party ’til 10 vs cake, party ‘1il 8. Where would you rather live?
anything going on in the hood of tanglewood?
Oh no, sorry that the story was misleading about Arlington Hts, the Neighborhood Assn had cake, whereas the COPs had: food from Luciles, Tokyo Cafe, Bella Italia West, Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, Blue Bonnet Bky, Cupcake Cottage, about 18 dzn cookies, 2 bounce houses and a DJ!!! Thanks to the ~500 neighbors who showed!!
