Upcoming Urbanism Education Events
By: Kevin Buchanan
Here’s a couple of upcoming educational events centered around traditional urbanism – one being put on by us, one by CNU North Texas:
Fort Worthology and Fort Worth South, Inc. invite you to the presentation “Discovering Urbanism: An Introduction to Walkable, Livable Communities” this Saturday, March 21st at 1:00 PM. We will be giving an introductory presentation on the concepts and principles behind traditional urbanism, what it looks like, and how it works in Fort Worth’s central city. The presentation will be held at the new J. D. Moore Building, a great example of mixed-use urban development, at the northwest corner of Henderson & Oleander in the Near Southside. The presentation is free – central city Fort Worth residents curious about traditional urban design are encouraged to attend! Don’t expect an incredibly technical talk – this is a simple and cheerful introduction to the principles of urbanism.
CNU North Texas will be presenting a lecture by famed urbanist Andres Duany Monday, March 30, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Hughes Trigg Student Center Ballroom at SMU in Dallas. “Sustainable Neighborhood Re-Modeling: New Life for Tired Neighborhoods” features Duany with an introduction by Dallas mayor Tom Leppert. This PDF at the CNU North Texas site has full details.
