Urban Event Announcement: Near Southside First Friday on the Green Returns This Friday w/ White Ghost Shivers

First Friday on the Green, the Near Southside’s live music series put on by Fort Worth South, Inc., makes its return this Friday at 6:00 PM in a big way. Austin’s crazy-cool cabaret/jazz/vaudeville/hokum/western swing/hillbilly/jugband/ragtime group White Ghost Shivers is coming to town!

First Friday on the Green is held at Magnolia Green Park, on Lipscomb between Rosedale and Magnolia.

The event starts at 6:00. Admission is free, but you are encouraged to bring a canned food item for the Tarrant Area Food Bank. There will be food from Chadra Mezza & Grill, so appetites are welcome, too.

Here’s a couple of YouTube videos of White Ghost Shivers doing what they do best. I hope a lot of y’all can make it, because it looks to be a blast and this is a unique and fun band that doesn’t get too many chances to come through Fort Worth.

Responsible and thoughtful comments are welcome. Be aware, though, that this site exists in part as an advocacy site for New Urbanism and its potential to remake Fort Worth into an even more livable city than it is today. Thoughtful dissent is generally welcome insofar as it fosters thoughtful replies. Inflammatory dissent, whether intentional or not, will be deleted. Commenters whose comments we routinely delete will be banned. Nothing personal, but this is a privately owned and operated web site, and we are aiming for a specific tone and audience. Work within those guidelines and all will be well.

I caught this band when they played on the patio at Central Market a couple of years ago … they’re really unique, with a cool sound. In fact, we bought the CD. Should be a good time.
