The Black Dog Tavern building, and the rest of the assemblage of turquoise & pink buildings at 7th & Stayton, has been demolished. The tattoo shop, as of this writing, is still standing. As far as I know, this property is owned by (cue the sinister music) Chesapeake Energy, so we could be talking anything from a gas rig to an office building. I haven’t heard a word about what this might be – does anybody have any information about this?
Responsible and thoughtful comments are welcome. Be aware, though, that this site exists in part as an advocacy site for New Urbanism and its potential to remake Fort Worth into an even more livable city than it is today. Thoughtful dissent is generally welcome insofar as it fosters thoughtful replies. Inflammatory dissent, whether intentional or not, will be deleted. Commenters whose comments we routinely delete will be banned. Nothing personal, but this is a privately owned and operated web site, and we are aiming for a specific tone and audience. Work within those guidelines and all will be well.
Props on the sinister music.
I will check size and permits, after breakfast… Don’t want to be in the dog house for not helping. My inclination is that this would be a good area for CHK to develop downtown. Hate to see a rig on 7th st.

It seems that CHK owns almost every property in the area. They got a permit only a few days ago for a location just north of there. The well will head towards the northwest. I am curious to know what their intentions are with all of that land.
I posted an image showing the properties I checked that are owned by CHK. And I passed up gym time for this…

When was it the Black Dog?
I thought that used to be Saffire Lounge on the left and 7th Haven on the right???
Jeff
You are right, but for quite some time there has been a sign on the old 7th Haven building that said Black Dog Tavern. At one point there was a plan for them to open there after their previous building near Pop’s was torn down.
Wasn’t that the A-Bar at one point? I’m pretty sure. If so, I did some serious underage drinking there.
Eric G: It was. A long time ago. Then 7th Haven, which is what it was the last time I went there.
Jeff: Yes, it was Sapphire on the left.
Caught fire When it was 7th Haven and the building owner did not renew the lease for Sapphire (They reopened as Dirty Murphy’s in downtown). Why put money back into them knowing that they would make more money and the buildings will be razed for the SO7 project
Kevin (or anyone with info),
You happen to know if anyone anywhere will reopen the Black Dog do you?
