Mid-Block Crossing On Hemphill At Samaritan House Approved

Further good news for street calming in the Near Southside: Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District #4 approved funding for a mid-block crossing and traffic calming elements on Hemphill between the east and west portions of Samaritan House. Hemphill’s current high-speed nature and the lack of any intersections between Terrell and Rosedale made crossing the street here unsafe.

This is an early step in the long-planned Hemphill Streetscape Improvement project, which will see Hemphill between Pennsylvania and Allen remade with better pedestrian facilities and more attractive streetscape designs.
