Omni Rising – A Video By "Hawkeye" Louis

After Montgomery Plaza was redeveloped, we featured a video here showcasing the work done to the historic Montgomery Ward building over the course of its redevelopment. It was a popular entry and a very nifty video.

Now, its creator has returned with another Fort Worth architectural video. Mark “Hawkeye” Louis, morning show host of Big 96.3 KSCS, has created a brief (under 30 second) video showcasing the construction of the newly opened Omni Hotel in Downtown. It’ll be premiering Thursday at KSCS’s web site, but Hawkeye has graciously allowed us to give you a sneak peek at it here at Fort Worthology. Enjoy – and thanks again to Mark “Hawkeye” Louis for another very cool Fort Worth architecture video.

Responsible and thoughtful comments are welcome. Be aware, though, that this site exists in part as an advocacy site for New Urbanism and its potential to remake Fort Worth into an even more livable city than it is today. Thoughtful dissent is generally welcome insofar as it fosters thoughtful replies. Inflammatory dissent, whether intentional or not, will be deleted. Commenters whose comments we routinely delete will be banned. Nothing personal, but this is a privately owned and operated web site, and we are aiming for a specific tone and audience. Work within those guidelines and all will be well.

I guess I didn’t realize this was Ft. Worth’s tallest building. Nice work!

The Omni is not FW’s tallest building. That honor still belongs to Burnett Plaza, unfortunatley.

No, that information at the beginning is very incorrect. The Omni is somewhere around Fort Worth’s fifth or sixth tallest building, and is surpassed in overall height by Burnett Plaza by 120 feet. I do not know where this guy got his information, but honestly, if you just LOOK at Downtown Fort Worth it becomes quite obvious that there are more than a couple buildings that easily outreach the Omni. While the hotel is one of the best looking skyscrapers, it’s not the tallest.
