It's Official: Streetcar Starter System Routes Recommended
By: Kevin Buchanan
It’s been speculated about for months, and now it’s official – the Streetcar Study Committee has chosen the routes that will be recommended to the City Council for the streetcar starter system. The committee’s recommendation will be that the city builds the Downtown loop, Cultural District line, and Near Southside line as the initial phase of the Fort Worth modern streetcar system.
(A rough representation of those routes is shown above.)
The streetcar system takes another step forward with this news. Now, the committee will present its recommendations to the City Council – at this month’s meeting, I believe (if somebody with more info is out there, correct me if I’m wrong about that date).

I’m excited that the committee is including both the cultural district and near southside routes in their recommendation for the starter system.
Is there any ideas when the cars would be officially running?
On a related note, does anyone know what the seats in the Seattle/Portland streetcars are made of?
The fabric seats on the T really seem to absorb a lot of odor/moisture/stains from the passengers.
Maybe this could be kept in mind as the streetcar is designed.
Call my crazy, and maybe I’m overlooking something but looking at the upcoming agenda for the 12/9 City Council meeting I don’t see any mention of the Streetcar Committee etc

Does anybody know more than this? Much appreciated.
