Museum Place & West 7th Updates

At Museum Place, the Flatiron building is really coming together. I expect it won’t be too much longer before this one’s complete.

Further into the development, the 7-Eleven signage is going up on the 7-Eleven Corner Store/condo building at 7th & Arch Adams, including the partially neon variant on the left.

In the West 7th development, the office building at 7th & Foch is getting some facade work. It must be said that this does not appear to be the most attractive building - simple horizontal bands of windows set into concrete panels. Perhaps it’ll get a little better as it finishes.

Further into the development, these two buildings (which will be apartments over retail) are progressing upward as well. I’m glad the street wasn’t widened through here - with these buildings at their full height (which should be five stories), there will be a good sense of enclosure here.

Across Currie, the building which will house things like the Movie Tavern Premiere and Lucky Strike Lanes has made a lot of progress as well.

  • I am looking forward to when all of the construction will be finished.

  • It looks like its getting closer. They have laid the rebar for the east boudn portion of Seventh and have pulled down the big fence that was bordering Camp Bowie.

  • Does anyone know why the billboard on the west side of the flatiron bldg is still up?

  • I think someone not related to the flat iron owns it and refuses to sell it.

  • Apologies if this has been discussed before, but what is the deal with the angled facade on the flatiron building? Or does it just appear to be angled?

  • The angled glass facade is supposed to reflect The Modern in it when you look at it from the south.

  • Visited Poag Mahone’s this week for the first time. Beautiful bar and friendly staff. Not your regular 7th street dives. Looking forward to all the new businesses, bars and eateries to brighten the place up. Any truth in a new Blarney Stone Pub coming to Carroll Street?

  • A new Blarney/Shamrock is currently a figment of Matt’s imagination. I hope Poag’s hired new staffed, because I wouldn’t describe the old staff as friendly.

  • Well, CD, close friend of Mr. McEntire? Or–joining in the Mattbashing that has gone on in another thread on this website? Seems to me that a lot of “native” Texans have their little noses out of joint because McEntire seems to have immigrated here and lived the American Dream. Jealous? Being a new patron of the 7th Street scene and talking to various and sundry other patrons you tend to learn a lot by listening and asking questions. Maybe you should try it.

  • I was told that the 7-11 move is going to be on Monday the 24th. It will be exciting to get a Slurpee with that New Slurpee Machine Plastic Flavor!

The bricks are going in pretty quickly as well.

And Thomas S. Byrne has officially moved into their new Museum Place offices this week.

Just a little FYI from the neighborhood.
