This rendering I’ve been sent ought to give a good idea of what to expect when Ellerbe Fine Foods opens in the old gas station at 7th Avenue and Magnolia. As I was hoping, they’re planning on turning the old pump island area into a large outdoor dining area. Definitely a big improvement!
I hope to be getting a chance to have a chat with the folks behind Ellerbe Fine Foods and will bring more info about the new eatery once I have it. Until then, click the rendering for a bigger view:

Looks like Empire Cafe in Houston. With luck, it will be like eating there, too.
Can’t wait ’til it opens! Yay for more food on Magnolia!
Looks great! Would they persist to apply for alcohol permit? Why did the neighbors complain about it? It is not that both are offering same, if not, similar cuisine, isn’t it?
Ryan Place,
The place that had issues with its alcohol permit was the “Little Italian Brew Pub” that had been planned next to Hot Damn Tamales. This is on the other end of Magnolia across from King Tut and Benito’s.
I guess I must be a cynic, but that illustration of the Elberie fine Foods establishment still looks like a gas station. It really reminds of a Sinclair station, unless they really change the design, it will always look like a filling station.
Hope the food is good.
@ MB,
That is the purpose, to keep the feel of the old filling station. Why else would they put a restaurant there, only to tear down a cool building.
I heard the Ellerbe chef is extremely talented - can’t wait for this place to open!
Yeah, I like that it keeps the old gas station’s looks.
I love the rendering!! I can’t wait to see what the take-out will be–the whole thing just sounds great–
Can’t wait! I am thrilled to get a new taste in Ft Worth!
