This Streetfilm shows designs and techniques for creating physically separated bicycle lanes in urban environments. In many cases, it’s simply a case of swapping the locations of the bike lane and the on-street parking to provide a barrier. I’d be interested in hearing from other Fort Worth urban cyclists on the interest, merit, and possibilities for physically separated bike lanes here in Fort Worth.

what an absolutely revolutionary idea. older than dirt, but in this day of $3 to $4 a gallon gasoline downtown Ft Worth could become even more alive than it is already.
Having experienced this first-hand in Amsterdam, I can attest that it really works well. This should be seriously considered as an option to promote safe bike commuting.
I so wish we had something like this for FW. I live on the west side of town and can easily use the Trinity Trail for most of my commute to work but it is so secluded that actually I’d feel safer riding the streets. Just over a month ago another woman was attacked in the exact area of trail I would enter for my route. But my best option, Vickery, is like the Autobahn during rush hour. And from a motorist point of view, interacting with cyclist on Vickery is very challenging. The sun hits directly in your eyes traveling in to town in the morning and again on the way home. It’s just not safe. My other option, Camp Bowie, well, same problems. I’d love to know who to talk to and how to start a program like this in Fort Worth.
