Here’s a question for those of you out there in Readerland - is there any interest in a Fort Worthology discussion forum? A few of you may recall we tried this once many moons ago, and it bombed fairly heavily. I blame that to some degree on the forum software we were running - it was fairly obscure and not particularly ready for prime time. Perhaps now, though, with our higher traffic and a better forum software, some of y’all might like to have a discussion forum here. My thinking is that it’d be solely focused on Fort Worth development & urbanism discussion, transit & bike advocacy, and historic preservation, but I’m still thinking about that. I think it’d be beneficial to keep the focus tight and simple for the time being.
So, what say you? Would you like to have a Fort Worthology discussion forum?

I’m torn. I really rely on this site and W&C for up-to-minute news about events / issues related to Fort Worth; and I mostly rely on the Fort Worth Forum for ongoing discussions about these sorts of topics.
Not sure if that gives you a clear answer, however I’d prefer these two sources for news and discussion to complement, rather than compete. That being said, there are merits to discussions on this site as opposed to Fort Worth Forum (different readership, perhaps).
Hmm, tough question. Thanks to you all that promote and advocate this sort of information sharing!
I think the blog format of FWology much > than a FWology forum. A blog is much faster to read and less time-consuming.
Streetcars,
The proposed forum would not replace the blog. It’d be an additional part of the site. The blog would stay on the front page.
Recyclican,
I love the Fort Worth Forum, as you know. I’m just thinking some folks might like a more focused development/urbanism/transit/preservation forum to talk. (Also noticed that the Fort Worth Forum is down as I write this - clicking on forums or trying to get new posts results in an IPS Driver Error.)
Just throwing it out there. Wanted to see if there was any interest. I’ve got some other projects I’d rather finish before we roll out a forum, so there’s no rush.
I agree with Recyclican. I think there might be unintentional competition with the Ft. Worth Forum - and maybe too much overlap.
I enjoy how well this site is laid out. I can find topics quickly, search by tags, and quickly see updated user comments.
While the Ft. Worth Forum has its audience (and certainly its usefulness), I find this blog to be a fresh alternative.
I’d also hate to see you spread yourself too thin. I certainly don’t know how you have time to keep up with all you’ve got on your plate currently!
I say focus on the blog and its many wonderful features. Or let new ventures separate you from the Ft. Worth Forum (more podcast episodes perhaps?)
JP,
One of the things I’m working on is the return of the Fort Worthology Show, which I intend to make a regular feature after some retooling. I plan on doing both audio podcasts as well as video ones.
Fort Worthology Forum?” Not a bad idea, not to sure what you had in mind. Fort Worth got lot happenings all of a sudden and it would be nice to see everything be put in its proper place. I know I get excited and anxious about what is happening to this town. Gosh, I remember when I worked for the Fort Worth Chamber and the late John Marshall who was the manager of the convention and visitor’s bureau did his utmost to make Fort Worth something. It would be nice to see a forum to recognize all of the unsung heroes who made all this happen. I know I was beginning to wonder if this town would ever get off dead center. Yes, we need a Fort Worthology Forum!
I’d love one, it’s worth a shot. I have some ideas to, wouldent mind helping out if I had time.
I’ll be visiting if you put it together.
