To be perfectly frank, I’m floored. Fort Worthology has won the Readers’ Choice award for Best Blog in Fort Worth in the new Fort Worth Weekly Best of 2008 issue.
We’re coming up on the second anniversary of Fort Worthology - the first post is from October 23rd, 2006. I’m really quite honored and grateful that in that time, this humble little architecture & urbanism nerdery revue I put on has become as big as it is. I am incredibly honored that you, the people who read this site, have spoken and given Fort Worthology the honor of this award. It means an awful lot to me, and I am truly, truly grateful.
Thank you.

Well deserved. Congratulations.
Congrats! It’s certainly become one of my “must-reads” each day.
I will say this, though - the Weekly’s “Best Architecture” award this time around was a bit lacking. I know they’re too cool to give an award to David Schwarz for the Carnegie, but really - Cantey Hangar Plaza? That’s the best thing built lately in town? If you want to stay away from Schwarz, give it to the Caceria Building (also by Gideon Toal), or if you want something modernish, why not something like One Museum Place?
Even the Weekly themselves described Cantey Hangar as daunting and confusing - clearly, deserving of an award, I guess. I also thought it odd that they said it had space for ground-level retail (which I’m not sure is actually true) and then said “for what reason, we’ll never know” - perhaps because it’s downtown and ground-level retail is an important part of making a great urban fabric?
I saw that yesterday and dropped by to say congrats!
Hey, nice to see you aren’t pulling any punches because you got an award in their paper. Congrats.
Congrats Kevin. I constantly depend on this blog and West and Clear to get FW updates. Thanks again.
The people have spoken, and you rock! :-)
It’s a daily reader for me. Go Fort Worth.
Kevin, Congrats. You deserve it and like many others have said, this is one of my daily reads. Keep up the great work.
Was happy to hear of the award!
This is becoming a wonderful link to the City I love.
Keep up the great work!
Yay! Coming out of lurkdom to say, “I voted for you!” I met you a couple weeks ago at Arts Goggle. Keep up the good work here!
You deserve the honor and recognition, Kevin.
Congratulations!!!
Congratulations, well done, and well deserved.
Kevin,
You’ve told me more and shown me more about the changes in Fort Worth, so I can keep up with “home” news. The Startle-gram doesn’t give me tours of downtown and my old neighborhood.
You deserve credit. I come to Fort Worthology and West and Clear, for my “home” news, what’s changed, pics; so I don’t cry like an idiot, if my daughter shows me a Radio-Shack building where I used to walk through the projects to go to the Tandy parking lot.
We decided to meet at the “Modern” a couple of years ago. I went to the “old” Modern. I raced across the parking lot, telling her I didn’t know where the new building was located. I asked a guard at Will Rogers. He said he didn’t know.
Called my daughter back, asked her where they put the new building. (I thought the new “Modern” would be built on the same site. I saw the new model years ago.) When she said it was on University across from JJ’s, I said, “There’s apartments there!”
Not anymore.
Fort Worthology tells me not to go to the old places and shows me the new spots. I can cry at home in peace and be on time, at the new places, without asking people who don’t know the difference.
You write a great blog for natives and you deserve this award!
Thanks for all your time!
Karen
