South Village Lofts – Phase 1 Finishing Out

Phase 1 of the South Village Lofts, the new LEED Certified green townhome development on Bryan Avenue just off South Main in the Near Southside, looks to be finishing up at this point. The two units, which are priced from the $250,000s, are approximately 1,984 square feet. They feature LEED certification (not sure at the moment what level they got), Energy Star fixtures, tankless water heaters, renewable bamboo flooring, and open loft-style floor plans.

The two units of Phase 1 are located at 465 and 467 Bryan Avenue. For more information, call 817-335-9800 x10.

Responsible and thoughtful comments are welcome. Be aware, though, that this site exists in part as an advocacy site for New Urbanism and its potential to remake Fort Worth into an even more livable city than it is today. Thoughtful dissent is generally welcome insofar as it fosters thoughtful replies. Inflammatory dissent, whether intentional or not, will be deleted. Commenters whose comments we routinely delete will be banned. Nothing personal, but this is a privately owned and operated web site, and we are aiming for a specific tone and audience. Tucker and Bryan? Wow! My hat’s off to anyone who has the guts to build lofts in that area. I’m guessing that Fairmount has passed the 60 percent urban pioneer mark and it’s no longer filled with drug dealers. COOL!

Google Street View shows more lofts on the next block. Do they have a roof garden? I used to walk that area from my job downtown. Throckmorton to Fairmount is a nice stroll, in good weather. It was a short bus ride. I even rode the bus to go to the grocery store.

I had to take a short taxi ride home, if I stayed out late.

I’m homesick and I like some of the Fort Worth options. I don’t like the “contemporary” ideas of white cabinets, black counters, left-over Italian fixtures, light oak floors and Berber carpets.

Who does these places? Fort Worth contemporary looks like cheap left-overs, yet they want full-price.
