Museum Place Corner Store revealed

Yesterday, I talked about the progress being made on this building (and others) in the Museum Place development in the Cultural District. I had not yet seen renderings of this building (at 7th & Arch Adams), nor did I know exactly what it was going to be.

I’ve now learned both. The existing 7-Eleven across Arch Adams from this site is being demolished for another Museum Place building, and 7-Eleven will be opening a “corner store” in the ground floor of this building, with condos above. These renderings should give an idea of what the finished product will look like (though there may be a few small detail changes on the final building):

The 7-Eleven looks to be fantastically integrated into the urban setting, and it should serve this revitalized neighborhood very well. This is very illustrative of a point we New Urbanists make - people don’t think of corner stores anymore because of modern-day convenience stores, which are ugly boxes stuck behind parking lots that look low-rent and unattractive. This proves that a convenience store can become a true corner store with a safe, attractive, friendly appearance and street interaction.
