Fort Worthology – Refreshed
You might be noticing a few changes around these parts. Well, you’re not imagining things – there’s a new Fort Worthology for your enjoyment! There have been a lot of tweaks made, and I’d like to mention a few of them.
Most obviously, there’s a new look. The site’s still powered by Wordpress and K2, but they’ve both been upgraded. It’s been given a visual makeover from top to bottom, from the tweaked logo to the fonts. The navbar at the top has been remade to remove the big black bar that has been with us since the beginning, giving the site a lighter feel. The logo’s been slightly refreshed. We’re using different fonts, as well – most everything is Helvetica, with Futura showing up in places for those who have it installed (the iconic Fort Worthology logo font remains, of course, but even it’s been given a subtle gloss). The site now features two sidebars, allowing our Google advertising to be better integrated into the site and keep it from breaking the flow of things.
Categories have been tweaked as well, with several redundant categories disappearing and being merged into others. The Pages nav bar at the top has been cleaned up, as well – now, Urban Living and the forthcoming Urban Eats live in “Urban Guides,” accessible from that page. Ditto “New Urbanism” off the “About” page. The Streetcar page is being given a big makeover in support of the current proposal – some early work is already visible.
The Forum will be getting a similar remake soon, and should come out of it far better than it is right now.
Also, there will soon be a link on the left, above the ads, for the Fort Worthology Store, which will allow you to buy framed prints of our urban photography or T-shirts, either with our logo or in support of the streetcar proposal.
Whew! It was certainly a big bit of work, but I think you’ll all like the new site. We just had our two best months in terms of traffic, and look to be on track to set another record this month, so thank you to all of you who visit Fort Worthology!
