Wendy Davis resigns council seat

Just three months after winning reelection, District 9 councilperson Wendy Davis has resigned her seat for a run at state senate. A special election could be held November 9th to select a replacement.

Fort Worthology officially re-endorses Bernie Scheffler of Panther City Bicycles fame for District 9 City Council. Bernie made an extremely strong showing in the last election considering his severe funding disadvantage to Wendy and we think he’s going to do even better this time around. So again, Fort Worthology encourages the people of District 9 to VOTE BERNIE!

Naturally, the Star-Telegram completely ignores Bernie in its coverage of this event; as Bernie puts it on his campaign blog:

Reporters don’t even try to get all the facts these days! The Star-Telegram reports this evening that two people are thinking about running for Wendy Davis’ vacated council seat. But did they even bother to call the guy who ran three months ago? Of course not; my phone never rang.

Mr. Spangler, Batheja, and Lee: shame on each of you. I realize that blog posts like this one probably won’t make me any more likely to get coverage in your paper, but still… you owe it to the people of Fort Worth to at least try and get the whole story. Give me a call next time, OK?

Shame on you again, Star-Telegram.
