Naming the Future

As an aside to our previous post about the TCC Campus, there’s been one thing bugging us - what are we going to name all the stuff the TRV will be bringing us?

Think about it - the TRV will be giving us a new bypass channel, a new lake where the Clear Fork and West Fork come together, and two (or three, depending on your view of that canal) islands. They’re going to need names, and we’re curious to see what you’ll come up with. Please post in the comments with your thoughts on the names of these various bodies. For our part, we have thought of two so far.

For the lake:
Lake Trinity - not too creative, we know, but it seems appropriate. The Trinity gave life to Fort Worth, and the new lake marks this city’s re-embracing of the river.

For the big island on the right:
Cats’ Island - the big island will be the home of LaGrave Field, where the Fort Worth Cats baseball team lives. This just seems incredibly appropriate as both a tribute to everybody’s favorite hometown team and to Fort Worth’s “Panther City” legacy.

Now, there does appear to be a rather sizable canal going through Cats’ Island, so if you want to count that as two islands for naming purposes go right ahead. We have not yet come up with ideas for names for the island on the left, the bypass channel, the canals, or any other part of the TRV. Let’s hear your ideas! Get creative!
