Urban Home Tour - Texas & Pacific Lofts

Today’s Urban Home Tour stop is the Texas & Pacific Lofts development on the southside of downtown. Texas & Pacific Lofts is the redevelopment of the historic Texas & Pacific train station, built in 1931. One of Fort Worth’s architectural crown jewels, the T&P station is a soaring Art Deco structure with absolutely jaw-dropping Zigzag Moderne ornamentation. Designed by great local architect Wyatt C. Hedrick, the T&P station forms one end of a huge complex on Lancaster Avenue, the other components being the landmark Central Post Office and gargantuan Texas & Pacific Warehouse, both also designed by Hedrick.

The T&P still serves as a train station, being one of two downtown stops for the Trinity Railway Express (the other being the Intermodal Transportation Center). The building’s upper floors have now been reopened as 136 slick loft condos, and a four-story midrise building has been built alongside to provide 97 more units.

The units in the historic highrise and new midrise are very similar, the primary differences being the exposed concrete ceilings in the highrise, and the terazzo floors in the highrise vs. concrete floors in the new midrise. A variety of floorplans are available, in both studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom configurations. Studios and one bedrooms start in the $160,000s, while two bedrooms start in the $220,000s.

This is one of Fort Worthology’s favorite developments. The units just ooze that cool loft vibe, and the building itself is nothing short of a masterpiece. While the new building alongside doesn’t quite measure up in terms of appearance, the units inside are fantastic as well. With the redevelopment of Lancaster underway, the area around the building will be steadily filling out as well. Texas & Pacific Lofts is a fantastic development, and you must absolutely check it out if you’re looking for loft living. (We’ll also be covering the Houston Place Lofts in a near future article).
