Fort Worthology is a bit distracted this week, so expect posting to be somewhat erratic. We’ll try to maintain, but it may not work out that way.

Museum Place followup
After the story yesterday revealing plans for an Apple Store and other unique retailers in the Museum Place development in the Cultural District, we received the following message from the Museum Place people:
The retail tenant list posted on this site was obtained from information used during the International Council of Shopping Centers spring convention earlier [...]
Museum Place to feature Apple Store, other Fort Worth firsts?
THIS DOES NOT INDICATE THAT THE TENANTS ARE ACTUALLY CONFIRMED. Museum Place Development Group has NOT officially confirmed any tenants for the retail portion of the project.
The response from the Museum Place Development Group is:
The retail tenant list posted on this site was obtained from information used during the International Council of Shopping Centers [...]
Houston Street storefronts
Another photo post, for those who like that sort of thing:
Various things
Just a behind-the-scenes post for the curious:
Forum - The Fort Worthology Forum is now under full-scale development. The current plan is for it to be focused around New Urbanism, Transit-Oriented Development, Historical Preservation, Urban Design, and similar topics. I want it to be a great discussion site, while at the same time not [...]
The Fair Building & the Fort Worth Club
Another photo post for your Thursday enjoyment:
Revealed: Cantey Hangar Plaza
Fort Worthology previously reported on the new four-story office building planned for the 6th/7th split area in downtown, and now we can reveal a rendering. Fort Worth, meet Cantey Hangar Plaza:
Cantey Hangar, Fort Worth’s second-oldest law firm, will be the principal tenant and occupy the 4th floor and part of the 3rd. The [...]
The Kress Building and the Sinclair Building
Haven’t done a photo post in a while, so here’s a photo I took of the Kress Building and the Sinclair Building. Click the thumbnail for a bigger view:
Shelton Building sold
The historic Shelton Building at 901 Houston Street (home of the downtown Kinko’s) has been purchased by the owners of the historic Sinclair Building at 5th & Main. The building was built in 1900, but its current look is that of a 1937 Moderne remodel job. In an interesting bit of Fort Worth [...]
New Office Building for the 6th/7th Split
Red Oak Realty, who recently purchased 500 West 7th (the 1961 SOM tower on Burnett Park that’s a mini recreation of their famous NYC Lever House tower) have announced plans for a four-story office building on the small block next to the 500 W. 7th parking garage, where there is currently an unused bank drive-through. [...]
Bad News/Good News
Well, the Klabzuba Oil 10-story tower shrank to 4 stories by the time it actually got approved, so unfortunately the building won’t be contributing to the skyline. The good news is that there is apparently talk of a hotel development on the site as well. Whatever the case, we’ll keep you posted on [...]
We’ll get ‘em next time…
Congrats to Bernie Scheffler for his good showing in the elections. Even though he wasn’t able to unseat Wendy, he did remarkably well, and I think the 30% higher voter turnout in District 9 was largely due to his efforts. With a fraction of the funds and time that Wendy had, Bernie did [...]
Vote Bernie tomorrow!
Just a friendly reminder from us here at Fort Worthology to vote tomorrow for our officially endorsed candidate for Fort Worth City Council District 9, Bernie Scheffler.
Bernie is a District 9 small business owner (he runs a bike shop you might have heard of), and he’s got great plans for Fort Worth - better historic [...]
Klabzuba Oil & Gas Tower beginning construction
Another new building is being added to the Fort Worth skyline! Klabzuba Oil & Gas is about to start construction on their new 10-story office building on the Upper West Side. Construction equipment has been spotted arriving at the site. The building will house Klabzuba’s headquarters, feature a large amount of leasable [...]
The Good, the Bad, and the Modern
One of the other new features here at Fort Worthology is the “Asides” category - a place for quick, short posts of commentary or interesting offsite links. They’re styled a bit differently from normal posts, as you can see. Here’s our first.
Much has been said about the Anthony Mariani flap, and Steve at [...]
Welcome to Fort Worthology 2.0
That’s right - the totally remade Fort Worthology has arrived! Obviously, the most prominent change is the completely new appearance - cleaner, with more breathing room. We’ve moved the page navigation links to just below the title graphics, creating a nifty, easy-to-use tabbed interface and freeing up space for better organization of the [...]
The Redesign Approaches
We’ve been hard at work on doing some behind-the-scenes work here at Fort Worthology, upgrading and prepping the site’s infrastructure for Fort Worthology 2.0. The new site is nearly complete, and we think you’ll all like what we’ve had in the oven. After the new site is rolled out, we’ll be launching the [...]
Phase 2 of The Versailles planned
Fort Worthology has learned that a 2nd phase of The Versailles, the Ken Schaumburg-designed condo project on Henderson near the Trinity River, is planned for construction. The new Versailles phase will be on the next block south of the existing phase, and will be of similar design to the existing building. A rendering [...]
Revealed: the Caceria Building, 5th & Commerce
At last, we have a rendering of the Caceria Building, currently under construction at 5th & Commerce in downtown. Designed by Gideon Toal of Fort Worth and being built by Wagner Oil (owners of 500 Commerce next door), the Caceria Building will be a seven-story Victorian Revival office building with ground floor retail.
Unfortunately, that’s [...]
Bass family to sell City Center towers
In a bit of a surprise, the Bass family (the beyond-rich tycoons who own and run Sundance Square in downtown) has put both of the near-twin City Center towers (aka the Wells Fargo and D.R. Horton towers) up for sale. The towers, the Bass family headquarters ever since their construction in the early ’80s, [...]
Fort Worthology Forum?
This is something I’ve been toying with for a while as part of the slow, steady reworkings going on around here lately - would there be any interest in a Fort Worthology discussion forum? I’ve got a development example running…somewhere…and am curious to see if anybody might like the site to have one. [...]
Coming soon…
You may have noticed a new link on the left there - “Fort Worth Light Rail.” You may also have noticed that there is not yet any content on that page. That will be changing soon. Fort Worthology is taking up the cause - we intend to put together a page advocating [...]
Running behind
We’re running behind on updates at the moment, as you’ve probably noticed. Not to worry - just some real-life stuff putting things off a bit. We’ll be getting some new updates to you very soon.
