714 Main opening Summer 2008

That’s right - here’s a project we’ve been looking forward to for a while. Hope you like the surprise! The old Transport Life Building at the corner of 7th & Main in downtown is finally getting redeveloped. After a proposed condo redevelopment fell through, the building was purchased by Farmers & Mechanics Inc. (a group named after Farmers & Mechanics Bank, the building’s original tenant), and is being redeveloped by Schwarz-Hanson Architects into 180,000 square feet of office space. The historic 1920 skyscraper, at one point the city’s tallest, will be reopening Summer 2008.

This is a great development, as 714 Main is the only building on Main Street that is vacant. Look for more updates on 714 Main’s progress in the future!
