“City Place” - redevelopment underway

Work has now started on converting the old Tandy Center towers into their new roles in the City Place project. The north tower, to be known as Two City Place, will become Class A office space, while the south tower (One City Place, naturally) will become condos. The old Outlet Mall between the two will be torn down and replaced by ground-level retail and a parking structure (which will also be able to accommodate a third tower in the future).

Externally, the towers will get a new coat of paint, new flush-mounted clear glass, new windows on their ends, new entrances & ground-level styling, and elaborate new crowns with dramatic night lighting to hide the utilities on the roof. The condo tower is also gaining balconies for the residents, as well as a fourth floor exterior deck & recreation area. Another unique aspect of the project is the partnership being made with the neighboring Renaissance Worthington Hotel, one part of which will be the use of the hotel’s maid services by the condo residents.

The renderings below show the correct design of the towers, but predate the retail/parking plans for the center of the complex. Otherwise, they give a good feel for how the currently drab concrete towers will be dramatically made-over for their new roles. The Tandy Center towers have been Fort Worth landmarks for quite some time, and their redevelopment will ensure that they’ll be around for a long time to come.
